Investor Profiles
Everyone's situation and goal in life is different. Frankly, this complexity is one of many things that make our job as financial advisors so interesting. Below, we have created some investor profiles to help explain how we work with our clients in achieving their goals. These profiles are based on real life but the names and photos are fictitious.
- Bill
- Jack
- Laura
- Steve
- Fred and Marilyn
Bill - Age 47
Orthopedic Surgeon
Background:
Bill truly loves his work. There's no better feeling than to help patients free themselves from pain, regain their mobility and restore their lives. However -
Situation:
Bill doesn't love the business side of medicine - the forms, liability, dealing with insurance companies. His dream is to work without pay as a volunteer physician. He wants to perform surgery at clinics in developing countries, where his skills are sorely needed, and he wants to do it by the time he turns 56.
Plan:
When he was 43, Bill shared his dream with the professionals at KT Investment Advisors. They helped him put together a solid financial plan that is designed to achieve his financial goals and make his personal dream come true.
Jack - Age 63
Retail Business Owner
Background:
Jack went to work in retail right after high school. At age 28, he opened his own store. Through hard work and long hours, he built the business into a chain of retail locations.
Situation:
His son went to college, and came back to work for him. His son brought new ideas and new energy, and Jack was ready to step back and spend more time with his wife. But he wanted to make sure his son was ready. And he needed a plan so his lifestyle won't have to change when he stops receiving distributions from the business. His life insurance agent kept telling him he needed lots of insurance to cover his estate tax problem.
Plan:
KT Investment Advisors helped Jack with an investment strategy that is designed to keep cash flowing for life. The team also helped Jack and his wife coordinate estate planning details with their accountant and their attorney. KT Investment Advisors gave Jack the information he needed to make a prudent choice about life insurance.
Laura - Age 52
Newly Divorced
Background:
This is not the life Laura thought she'd be living at age 52. Divorce was not part of the plan. It wasn't easy.
Situation:
Laura had traveled extensively and done a lot of things in her life. But none of it could be described as a career. Now on her own, she needed to redefine herself, personally, professionally and financially. Never before did she have to worry about things like retirement planning, investment strategies, tax issues or risk tolerance. She had too many questions, and too few answers.
Plan:
She turned to the staff at KT Investment Advisors. The team took the time to understand Laura's vision for her future. They coached her on how her assets can be used to support that vision. Before, Laura felt she had a hodgepodge of investments scattered among a number of financial firms. She wasn't even sure what some of the investments were. Now when she sees her financial statement, she understands how each of her financial assets contributes to her future.
Steve - Age 41
Recent Heir
Background:
F. Scott Fitzgerald said, "The rich are different from you and me." Steve wouldn't know. He's never been rich. He always worked, didn't have a lot, but was more or less content with his life.
Situation:
When his mother died, he inherited an estate that was a lot bigger than he thought it would be. He now has stocks, real estate holdings and a mix of other investments.
When handling the details of the estate, Steve was surprised by the amount of hassle involved. Not only was it a pain, but Steve couldn't help feeling guilty. He didn't earn this money. At first, he wanted to sell everything and spend the rest of his life riding his motorcycle. He thought about giving it all away and going back to his job.
Plan:
In KT Investment Advisors, Steve found unbiased advice at a time when he needed to make some critical decisions. Although he'd never been through anything like this before, the folks at KT Investment Advisors had. And they were there to answer questions and provide insight without sales pressure. He doesn't have to worry -- and he doesn't have to feel guilty.
Fred and Marilyn - Late 60's
Retired Ranchers
Background:
Fred and Marilyn have lived their entire lives near their ranch. They never imagined themselves selling -- until their kids moved on and a purchase offer came out of the blue. This sudden surprise brought opportunities and challenges. Their way of life has never changed much. One of the biggest changes Fred has experienced was working cattle on an ATV instead of a horse. They never really enjoyed coming “into town” for more than a few hours. They’ve rarely traveled. Although they ran a successful operation, they never felt like they could get away.
Situation:
After the sale, Fred and Marilyn found themselves with time on their hands, some loss of identity and an overwhelming need to manage the significant proceeds of their ranch sale. But they also found new freedom. They could slow down, visit their children and grandchildren, and even take the cruise that Marilyn has always thought about.
Plan:
KT Investment Advisors helped Fred and Marilyn understand their new resources, the decisions that needed to be made and the alternatives available. The team helped them organize and prioritize their choices. They could allocate their proceeds to create the lifestyle they would most like to live. Most importantly, KT Investment Advisors helped Fred and Marilyn replace their feeling of security that they always attached to their land.
